About AIPMA & Plastivision India

AIPMA (All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association) – Was founded by Industry visionaries 75+ years ago making it the oldest and the largest Apex Body of the Plastic Industry in India. By sharing important information about plastics with all segments of the Indian government and society, AIPMA serves as a responsible national body that has expanded and progressed by leaps and bounds in all fields of Plastics.

Plastivision India is the largest plastic industry event held in India. Organized by The All India Plastic Manufacturer’s Association (AIPMA), Plastivision India provides the perfect platform for plastic industry players like manufacturers, dealers, buyers, and end-users. The 12th edition of Plastivision India will be held from 7th - 11th Dec 2023 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregoan, Mumbai.

Students from class IXTH & XTH, time put your thinking caps on! AIPMA is pleased to announce its 4th National Essay Contest. Participate to discover how and why plastics have become so important in serving millions of people around the world over the last few decades. Winners will be awarded exciting prizes.

Eligibility Criteria

Submission Deadline: 15th September 2023.

  • * Only Schools all over India can participate.
  • * Only students from class IXTH & XTH can participate.

Submit each student’s essay (maximum 500 words) along with each student completing individual Registration forms with a photograph, name of schools, address, etc duly certified by the School Principal / Headmaster to reach, "The All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, A-52, Street No 1, MIDC, Andheri East. Mumbai 400093" or upload on www.plastivision.org/essay latest by 15/09/2023.

IMPORTANT COMPETITION DETAILS - RULES & REGULATIONS: To participate in AIPMA’S National Essay Competition, it is mandatory for the school to register first. Only then the students of that school are eligible to participate. (Register here)

Initiative Objective

Plastics are a very important material in our life and it plays an integral role in our day-to-day life. Through this initiative, we want to create awareness among students about environmental issues associated with plastics and familiarise the students about the positive aspects of plastics.

  • Plastics are waterproof and insulating.
  • Plastics can be easily molded and give a great finishing.
  • Plastics have high durability.
  • Plastic is used for building, construction, hospital, and packaging.

  • Plastic has excellent chemical resistance, therefore replacing stainless steel in many applications.
  • Its excellent stability in sunlight makes it popular as a decorative finish coating on aluminum and steel building siding.
  • Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene is a copolymer of ethylene and PTFE. Good radiation resistance and improved creep makes it useful for nuclear energy.
  • Special case of high transmission and clarity.
  • It possesses good adhesiveness.
  • Manmade fibre of plastic is used in textiles.
  • Carbon nanofibre mixed polymer possesses more strength than steel.
  • Plastic is used to make stents that have wide application in the medical industry.

  • By law it is important to maintain a waste-free environment.
  • Collection of plastic waste is the responsibility of the government agency.
  • Littering creates problems.
  • We need to give some elevated social status to Rag pickers and value their efforts.
  • All thermoplastics are recyclable.
  • Collected plastic waste is segregated, washed and then dried. Once dry they can be recycled to pellets/ granules.
  • This recycled plastic is ready for reuse to make another plastic product.
  • Plastic is used to make furniture and various other molded items.
  • Plastic waste is also mixed with tar to build strong roads. (Plastics to Road)
  • From plastic waste crude oil can be produced. (Plastics to fuel)
  • Plastic Waste can be converted to energy. (Plastic to Energy)
  • Plastic waste has high calorific value hence used in a cement kiln to fire the boilers. (Plastic to Cement Kiln)

IMPORTANT COMPETITION DETAILS

  • Prizes will be awarded during our Mega event “Plastivision India- 2023” on 8th December - 2023 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (East), Mumbai.
  • 12 winning Students along with one escort per winning student will be paid to & Fro AC III-tier train fare and 2 Nights/ 3 Days free stay at Mumbai where they will witness the biggest International Plastic Trade Fair in India and 4th largest in the world and receive their prizes in a grand function at Mumbai in presence of Media.
  • Initially, Reservation and Ticketing to be done by the winning participants.
  • For essay content, students may refer to books, magazines, surf web or the given websites but the essay must be the student’s own creation and in own words.

RULES & REGULATIONS:

  • The essay should be in English and not more than 500 words.
  • The Essay has to be sent by email in font size 12-Times Roman and sent as an attachment in word format to us latest on or before 15th September 2023 or upload entries on www.plastivision.org/essay or sent on edu@plastivision.org.
  • Maximum of 25 entries per school
  • The decision of the Judges Panel of the Association will be final and no grievance will be entertained.
  • To & Fro A.C. III-tier train fare will be paid to winners along with one Escort from place of school to Mumbai & back. Reservation and ticketing to be done by participants. Reimbursement of fare will be done on the production of original or Xerox copy of the ticket, at Mumbai upon arrival.
  • AIPMA will not be responsible for student or his / her escort and will travel at own risk.
  • 2 Nights/ 3 Days complimentary stay at Mumbai. Details of dates & stay will be intimated to each winner well in advance enabling them to make their travel arrangements.
  • All the Essays will be the Property of AIPMA.
